ANNUAL LOCAL EVENTS

Roselea is ideally situated to provide accommodation for the following events which attract thousands of visitors each year.

T in the Park

This music extravaganza has become one of the most important music events on the European festival scene and just gets better each year- 2nd weekend in July every year. (Distance: 5 miles)

Steam in the Park

The Scottish Traction Engine Society hosts their annual steam and vintage weekend rally at Balado, near Kinross. With over 550 entries there is something for everyone whether their interests are in pushbikes. artic lorries or the many and varied examples of steam vehicles. (Distance: 5 miles)

The Royal Highland Show

The Highland Show is Scotland's premier agriculture event attracting around 150,000 visitors each year. With more than 5,000 animals on display, a varied programme of competitions and craft events and a rolling display promoting country pursuits, there is something of interest for everybody (Distance:22 miles)

Truckfest

This annual national festival to celebrate the world of the truck and the HGV industry is held at Ingliston and attracts entries from all over the United Kingdom.

Bird Watching

The Vane Farm Nature Reserve is owned by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. This is one of the most popular RSPB reserves in Scotland. There is an educational visitor centre, including coffee shop, overlooking Loch Leven. An outdoor trail winds up through woodland to the top of Vane Hill and down to purpose built hides from which visitors can view the many and varied birds which can regularly be seen on and around the shores of Loch Leven (Distance: 3 miles)

 

 

FISHING

Loch Leven is well known for its fishing, indeed it has become the most famous trout water in the world with the renowned Loch Leven Brown Trout. The opening of the Scottish National Angling Centre at the pier has improved facilities greatly for anglers who can now relax in a fully licensed bar with hot food and snacks available. There is also a well stocked angling shop. All fishing on the loch is done by boat and a few boats have been specially adapted for disabled anglers (Kinross)

 

Heatheryford

Glendevon Trout Farm

Bank fishing for rainbow trout all year round (Distance: 8 miles)

GLIDING

The Scottish Gliding Centre at Portmoak Airfield is the largest gliding club in Scotland and provides facilities for gliding enthusiasts from all over Europe and beyond.

Instruction and training holidays are offered to those wanting to experience this exhilarating sport.

Portmoak airfield is located within a short distance from Kinnesswood and you can regularly marvel at these 'man-made' birds as they soar above Loch Leven from the comfort of Roselea.

There is a restaurant within the Gliding Centre and all visitors are made very welcome (Distance: 2 miles)

SHOOTING

Loch Leven, the largest loch in lowland Scotland, lies in the shadow of the Lomond Hills and is one of the most important sites for waterfowl in Britain. It has the largest concentration of breeding ducks found anywhere in the UK and more than 20,000 Pink-footed and Graylag geese take up residence on and around the loch in early winter. A significant amount of these birds remain throughout the entire winter months.

Clay Pigeon Shooting

Cluny Clays Activity Centre is only 12 miles from Kinnesswood and can offer both clay pigeon shooting and shooting with air rifles.

Walking & Hillwalking

Hill Walking

The Lomond and Ochil Hills lie between the Forth and Tay valleys with the Ochils lying just east of Stirling. Ben Cleuch (721m) is the highest peak of the Ochils affording stunning views from its summit. At the west end of the Ochils, Dumyat (418m) is a superb viewpoint looking over the scenes of some of William Wallace's finest hours.

The Lomond Hills in Fife have three distinct tops, the West and East lomonds and the Bishop Hill. West Lomod is the highest at 522m, with easy walking over grassland. On reaching the summit you are rewarded with marvelous views of the Highland Hills to the north and Loch Leven to the west

WALKING

The Fife Coastal Path stretches from the Forth Bridges to Crail and can be broken up into many smaller walks along which you can often spot a variety of wildlife such as puffins, grey seals and dolphins.

The famous Tetley Tea Trail is a pleasant afternoon's walk linking Scotlandwell with Kinnesswood.

The proposed 'Round Loch Leven' walkway is due to get underway soon and will provide a walking / cycle route around the 12 mile perimeter of Loch leven.

GOLFING

Scotland is rightly regarded as the home of golf and there are several championship golf courses within easy reach,

St Andrews ( 29 miles), Kingsbarns, Carnoustie (41 miles) and Dalmahoy ( 28 miles) all regularly hold international competitions and are all within 45 minutes from Kinnesswood.

There are two eighteen hole courses in Kinross and over two dozen other golf courses within a 40 minute drive, including the Dukes Course, Drumoig, Gleneagles and Murrayshall.

There are also two excellent driving ranges close by at Cluny Clays (7 miles) and Wellsgreen Golf Range (10 miles), both of which have superb restaurants

Motorsports

Knockhill Racing Circuit, Scotland's National Motorsport Centre, is only 15 miles from Kinnesswood. A nationally recognised venue for a variety of motor events such as the Scottish Motor Racing Club,

Superbikes and the British Touring Cars, Knockhill also has regular motorbike, car racing and go-karting activities as well as on road, off-road and skid pan driver training and fun days. Distance: - 13 miles)
